The MOUNTAIN project continues to make strong progress in the development of its training materials and upcoming capacity-building activities.
On 23 June 2026, the partnership held its second Transnational Project Meeting online. During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress made so far, discussed the development of the training modules, and planned the next steps for the Training of Trainers activity.
A key focus of the project at this stage is the creation of training materials for youth workers and educators working with young people in outdoor and mountain-based settings. The modules developed by the partnership cover important topics such as group familiarisation, the role and responsibilities of youth mountain educators, sociology of deviance, and trauma-informed and intercultural approaches in mountain-based youth work.
These materials will support the project’s wider aim of using non-formal education and outdoor learning to promote inclusion, participation and personal development among young people, especially those who may be at risk of exclusion.
The next major project activity will be the Training of Trainers, which will take place in September 2026 in Bergamo and Rifugio Curò, Italy. The programme will include training sessions, group work and outdoor mountain activities coordinated by Club Alpino Italiano. Participants will have the opportunity to test and explore the training materials in a practical mountain environment.
The Training of Trainers will be an important step in preparing partners for the next phase of the project, including local pilot activities and further development of inclusive outdoor education practices.
We look forward to continuing this work together with all project partners.
