About the project
About the MOUNTAIN Project
MOUNTAIN (Mobilising Opportunities for Understanding, Non-formal education and Transformational Activities in outdoor settings) is an Erasmus+ Youth cooperation project focused on inclusion, wellbeing and learning through outdoor and non-formal education.
The project brings together organisations from across Europe to explore how outdoor and experiential learning approaches can support youth workers and young people, particularly those facing social, geographic or structural barriers.

Why MOUNTAIN
Young people today face increasing challenges related to wellbeing, participation and inclusion. Outdoor and non-formal education can offer meaningful spaces for connection, reflection and learning, but these approaches are not always accessible or systematically supported.
MOUNTAIN responds to this need by strengthening the capacity of youth workers and organisations to use outdoor learning in inclusive, responsible and accessible ways.
What We Do
Through a participatory and practice-based approach, the project focuses on:
-
Focus groups and consultations with youth workers and practitioners to identify needs and priorities
-
Co-design of training content combining outdoor learning and non-formal education methods
-
Training of Trainers (ToT) to build skills and confidence among youth workers
-
Pilot actions at national level, testing activities with young people in real contexts
-
A European pilot mobility, bringing participants together for shared outdoor learning experiences
-
Awareness-raising and dissemination, sharing learning and experiences across Europe
